Baily Thomas Trust backs PMLD Project

Disport has been awarded £5,000 to support the continuation of the Profound & Multiple Learning Disabilities Project. The award, from THE BAILY THOMAS TRUST, is to support the continued development of a Sports Kitemark for Schools that provide sport and leisure activity for people with PMLD. In addition, Disport plans to develop two new awards, one for clubs and organisations, and one for facilities.
The PMLD Kitemark is believed to be the only such award of its kind, and has the potential to improve provision of sporting opportunities, and facilities for people with the most complex needs.
Project coordinator, Fiona Hall said:
"This project is all about removing barriers for people with PMLD. Very often, simple minor adjustments to facilities, or to activities will make a huge difference. By flagging up and rewarding good practice, we are encouraging organisations to think more closely about what they offer."
