Awards For All
Disport has been successful in gaining funding from Awards for All to run two projects:-
Valuing Volunteers (2003)  was a project to acknowledge the massive input by volunteers to support people with a learning disability. As a result of the project, volunteers were rewarded with support training, event kit (polo shirts), expenses for events, and the launch of a dedicated award at the annual FDSO Sports Awards dinner.

Focus on Skill Development Project (2005) was a project to support people with a learning disability by encouraging them to pursue skills awards in three sports:- Cricket, rugby & athletics. Hundreds of participants benefited from sessions held across the region, with certificates in all three sports being issued. Training was also given to support teachers in their onward development of skills based work for their participants.

Partnerships With Colleges & Universities

Disport has enjoyed a successful partnership with The Leisure Management Unit of the University of Sheffield for 13 years. The Leisure Management Unit undertakes to manage the annual
Disport Athletics Finals, and begin planning this event in January. Responsibilities include fundraising, co-ordination of finance, co-ordination of volunteers, generating publicity, arranging catering and entertainment. Each year, fundraising initiatives raise around £3000 towards the cost of the Championships.
